Respecting personal boundaries is not only a crucial skill for protecting children’s safety, but also a foundation for fostering a positive, humane, and respectful school environment. Understanding this, Hanoi Adelaide School organized the “Stay Safe, Speak Up” workshop specifically for HASians Elementary School students – a meaningful learning and experiential activity that helps children gradually identify, understand, and practice respecting their own boundaries as well as those of others.

Through the workshop, students were guided on how to recognize personal boundaries in various aspects of daily life. From there, children gradually develop healthy communication skills: learning to listen, expressing their needs and emotions clearly and confidently, and learning to respect each other’s differences. In particular, they are encouraged to confidently say “No” or “Stop” when they feel uncomfortable or unsafe – an important skill for self-protection.

“Stay Safe, Speak Up” is designed vividly through a system of four activity stations, helping HASians access knowledge in a relatable, easy-to-understand, and age-appropriate way:
- At Station 1, children learn about body boundaries, understanding that everyone has the right to decide what to do with their own body and can say “No/Stop” when necessary.
- At Station 2, students explore emotional boundaries, learning to identify their own emotions and respect the emotions of others through familiar situations.
- At Station 3, children learn about ownership rights and how to borrow and use items properly, thereby developing an awareness of respecting shared and private property.
- Finally, Station 4 helps students reinforce all the knowledge they have learned and deepen their understanding of respecting personal boundaries in daily life.

Through experiential learning, interaction, and practice, the “Stay Safe, Speak Up” workshop not only provides knowledge but also gives HAS elementary school students confidence, initiative, and a feeling of being heard and respected. Through this, each student can confidently grow up in a safe and friendly school environment – where they are protected, understood, and can be themselves.
