Starting a new school year is about more than just getting to know teachers, friends, or the learning environment; it is also a journey of learning to listen to oneself. During the 2026-2027 Orientation Week, HASians participated in a workshop titled “Recognizing Challenging Emotions”—an activity designed to equip them with essential skills for nurturing their mental well-being and establishing balance in their school lives.

Through the workshop, HASians explored common emotional states experienced during learning and personal growth, learning to identify and distinguish between normal emotions and signs of psychological distress. Properly understanding their emotions helps students avoid anxiety or self-judgment when facing pressure, while also helping them recognize when they need a listening ear and support.

Additionally, students were introduced to various positive ways to release and regulate emotions, preventing everyday feelings from accumulating into prolonged psychological issues. These are practical skills that empower students to proactively care for their mental health and maintain balance in their studies as well as in their relationships with friends and family.

The workshop also helped HASians better understand the role of the Counseling Office at H.A.S, the support services provided by the school, and how to reach out when needed. Knowing that a safe space for sharing is always available boosts their confidence, encourages them to seek help proactively, and ensures they do not have to face challenges alone.

At Hanoi Adelaide School, mental well-being is considered a vital foundation for the holistic development of every student. Through meaningful orientation activities, the school aims to ensure that every HASian not only begins the academic year with enthusiasm but also possesses the understanding, skills, and confidence to gain self-insight, connect with others, and prepare for the learning journey ahead.
