OVERVIEW OF THE H.A.S EDUCATION PROGRAM
A. EDUCATIONAL VISION AT HANOI ADELAIDESCHOOL
At Hanoi Adelaide School (HAS), we believe that every student has unique potential and deserves to be empowered to grow holistically. In a rapidly changing world—where technology, careers, and life itself are increasingly complex—education must evolve to keep pace with the times. We have developed the HASCL School Curriculum Framework as a strong competency-based foundation that helps students become self-directed and adaptable in both the present and the future.
B. THE COMPETENCY-BASED CURRICULUM FRAMEWORK
HASCL is a modern curriculum inspired by Competency-Based Education (CBE), which has been successfully implemented in advanced education systems such as those in the United States and Australia. Key features of this model at HAS include:
- Personalized learning pathways: each student learns at their own pace and according to their strengths
- Continuous and meaningful assessment of learning
- Real-world application of knowledge and skills
- Student agency in decision-making and ownership of their learning journey
To realize this vision, we apply the RRA Test by reDesign, a checklist for assessing the quality of a performance task, to ensure that every learning experience at HAS meets three core criteria:
- Rigor: Students engage with authentic, open-ended problems that require higher-order thinking
- Relevance: Learning is linked to personal values, community, and global relevance
- Agency: Students choose how to demonstrate learning, use self-assessment tools, and progress at their own pace.
Through RRA-based performance tasks, students go beyond simply “knowing” to “doing,” “adapting,” and “growing” through every learning experience.
C. GRADUATE PROFILE: THE “3T” STUDENT
HAS education aspires to develop future-ready citizens with three core competencies:
- Self-mastery: Managing thoughts, emotions, and behavior in all situations
- Self-reliance: Capable of self-directed learning, self-care, and entrepreneurial thinking
- Responsibility: Living ethically, caring for the community, and engaging with the environment.
These three traits, referred to as the “3Ts”in Vietnamese, serve as the guiding principles for curriculum design, instructional planning, and student growth measurement at HAS. The “3Ts” are not limited to academic capabilities but form the foundation for success in learning, career, and life.

D. EDUCATION PHILOSOPHY: “THE WHOLE ME”
Our educational philosophy is summed up in the equation:
Self-mastery + Self-reliance + Responsibility = The Whole Me
Students at H.A.S are nurtured to grow holistically in character, intellect, physical development, aesthetics, and empathy. They are not only academically capable but also kind, thoughtful, creative, and community-minded. This is the ultimate goal of the HASCL curriculum—a student-centered, empowering, and inspiring program that unlocks the full potential of every learner.
E. STRUCTURE & IMPLEMENTATION OF THE H.A.S EDUCATION PROGRAM
1. MODERN AND RESEARCH-BASED APPROACHES
1. Modern and research-based approaches
Guided by its educational vision and Competency-Based Curriculum Framework, the HAS program is designed and implemented based on modern educational research. It is research-driven, emphasizes the learning process (process-based), promotes high levels of integration (integrated), focuses on depth and mastery of knowledge (mastery-oriented), and ensures clear evidence of student learning (evidence-based).
The program incorporates leading contemporary educational theories and models, including Backward Design from Understanding by Design (UbD), Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Brain-Based Learning, Inquiry-Based Learning, Problem-Based Learning, and Project-Based Learning. Through these approaches, the curriculum cultivates essential competencies, supporting students in becoming individuals who are autonomous, independent, and responsible.
The PRIME model illustrates the design and implementation methodology of the H.A.S. education program.
