Recently, 6th grade HASians had an inspiring day of experiential learning at Van Phuc Silk Village – the cradle of traditional Vietnamese silk weaving – with the activity “Discovering the Essence of Silk Making.” This was not just a field trip, but also a journey that allowed students to touch the long-standing cultural heritage of the nation.

Under the dedicated guidance of artisans, the students directly participated in assembling pictures from fabric scraps – pieces of fabric that seemed to be discarded but became colorful artistic materials. This activity helped HASians demonstrate their dexterity, aesthetic sense, and better understand the value of creativity, recycling, and handcrafted labor.

In addition, HAS students visited the Van Phuc Silk Village Ancestral Temple, listening to stories about the history and development of the craft village. Through this, they further appreciated the contributions of generations of artisans who have preserved the essence of Vietnamese silk for hundreds of years.

The journey continued with a visit to the Vụn Art workshop, where handcrafted products with artistic and humanistic value are created from scraps of fabric. Here, HAS students had the opportunity to observe the actual work process and better understand the innovative production model linked to community responsibility.

Through this experiential learning activity, HAS hopes to help students learn from practice, understand from experience, nurture a love for traditional culture, and develop creative thinking and an appreciation for the value of labor.
