Family – the beginning of love, but also a place that holds emotions difficult to name. In the journey of growing up, children don’t always know how to express their thoughts, and it’s even harder to face and resolve family conflicts safely and healthily.

Stemming from the desire to accompany students on their journey of self-understanding and nurturing positive relationships, the “Grow with Glow” learning project was implemented with a design of 4 experiential stations, creating a space for HASians K12 to pause, reflect, share, and learn how to connect.

📌 Station 1: Naming Emotions
At the first station, students are encouraged to look back and name their true feelings about their family in a non-judgmental space. Students gradually understand that everyone has different family experiences, and there are no “right” or “wrong” emotions when they are listened to with respect.
📌 Station 2: Understanding Your Own Communication Style
Through relatable situations, students identify their dominant communication style with their family: passive, assertive – listening, passive – aggressive, or aggressive. More importantly, they understand that communication is a skill that can be learned and adjusted, not a “fixed personality.”

📌 Station 3: Analyzing and Resolving Conflicts
At this station, K12 HASians practice objectively analyzing conflict situations within their families, thereby developing problem-solving thinking in a safer, healthier, and more positive way. This is a crucial transition from emotion to responsible action.

📌 Station 4: Sharing and Expressing Needs
The final station opens a safe space for students to share their feelings and needs with their families – things that are sometimes difficult to put into words. HASians learn to express their emotions in healthy language and understand that expressing their needs is legitimate and deserves respect.
“Grow with Glow” is an activity organized by the High School Counseling Department, part of a series of family-themed prevention programs for 12th-grade students. More than just an experiential activity, the project aims to equip students with awareness, skills, and emotional safety; helping them grow strong from their closest relationships.
