In the Pathway to Success series, let’s meet Nguyen Ngoc Thao Nhi (Class 9A1) and look back on her learning journey at Hanoi Adelaide School — a journey that began with initial challenges but gradually became marked by many notable achievements in both academics and extracurricular activities.

Understanding one’s abilities to build a learning pathway
When entering Grade 6, Thao Nhi had to adapt to many completely new subjects, especially Mathematics and Science taught in English. Encountering these subjects for the first time brought quite a few challenges during the early stage.
“At the beginning of middle school, I had quite a lot of difficulty with these two subjects because I had never studied them before,” Nhi shared.
The first assessment results in Grade 6 showed that her scores in both subjects were below average. However, instead of feeling discouraged, Nhi and her subject teachers chose a different approach: identifying the missing knowledge areas and rebuilding the foundation step by step.
By strengthening the basic concepts, Nhi gradually developed more proactive learning habits. She began reviewing her work after each test, discussing unclear topics with teachers, and spending additional time practicing more challenging types of questions.
This change started to show results within the first school year.
“By the midterm test in Grade 6, my scores had already improved. Although they were not outstanding yet, I had managed to overcome my own limits,” Nhi recalled.
In the following years, with a stronger knowledge foundation and better learning skills, Nhi became increasingly confident in her subjects. Even as the curriculum became more challenging, she was able to achieve scores of 9–10 in many assessments.
Choosing challenges to develop her abilities

When her daily academic performance became more stable with consistently strong results, Thao Nhi began to take part in a variety of extracurricular activities organized by the school. Participating in competitions and activities not only helped her broaden her knowledge, but also strengthened her confidence and teamwork skills.
These experiences helped Nhi realize that challenging herself in different environments is an effective way to continue developing her learning abilities.
Throughout her years at Hanoi Adelaide School, with continuous effort and determination, Thao Nhi has achieved many notable results in both academics and extracurricular activities.
As early as Grade 6, she received the Excellent Student title and was recognized for strong conduct and learning results in the first semester. In the following years, Nhi continued to earn the Outstanding Student title and was frequently recognized for excellent academic performance and personal development in both monthly and semester evaluations.
She has also made her mark in several academic competitions:
-
Second Prize – Geography, Dong Da District Young Talent Olympiad (2024–2025)
-
Third Prize – Geography, Kim Lien Ward Excellent Student Competition (2025–2026)
-
Golden Moon Award – Final Round of the “Rung Trang Vang” Knowledge Competition (2024–2025)
-
Third Prize – Reading Culture Ambassador Program (2024–2025)
This series of achievements reflects Thao Nhi’s well-rounded development, not only in her daily studies but also through various academic and extracurricular activities both within and beyond the school.
