School Nutrition – A journey of accompanying the growth of every HASian

13:40 - 26/01/2026

For Hanoi Adelaide School, a meal is not simply about providing energy for a day of learning, but is the foundation for the physical, intellectual, and emotional development of each student.

From this understanding, the school continuously improves, listens to, and systematically and scientifically enhances the quality of school meals.

Hanoi Adelaide School organized an in-depth sharing and consultation session on the plan to improve school meals and nutrition education, as part of the first semester review of the 2025-2026 school year.

The sharing session was presented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Thi Nhung – Former Head of the Department of School and Occupational Nutrition, National Institute of Nutrition. With many years of experience in the field of child and school nutrition, Associate Professor Dr. Bui Thi Nhung has provided expert, practical, and highly applicable analyses; helping parents and families gain a more comprehensive perspective on school nutrition issues.

Based on statistical data and health and nutrition assessments of students at both Hanoi Adelaide School campuses, the overall picture shows diversity in student physical condition. Alongside many students with good physical development, there is also a significant number of students who are overweight or obese, and a few exceptional cases of mild malnutrition.

This is also a common situation for children today, as eating habits and sedentary lifestyles are gradually impacting their long-term health. Notably, the expert also pointed out that nutritional problems are not limited to weight or physique, but also pose a risk of leading to diseases such as type 2 diabetes, dyslipidemia, and fatty liver disease. Diseases once considered “adult diseases” are now beginning to appear in school-aged children. This highlights the importance of early, proper, and sustainable nutritional intervention.

By listening to real-world data and expert opinions, Hanoi Adelaide School has conducted a comprehensive assessment of the current school diet and developed a plan to improve meals for students throughout the system. Besides adjusting menus to be more appropriate and balanced, the school also focuses on nutritional education for students through learning activities and sharing, so that each HASian understands their body’s nutritional needs, thus knowing how to choose appropriate foods and value their own health.

For Hanoi Adelaide School, school nutrition is a continuous journey to ensure that every meal at school is diverse, reasonable, and scientifically sound, forming healthy eating habits to prevent diseases in students.
