“It’s not about choosing subjects, but about choosing a learning path. A right choice begins with a correct understanding.”

10:19 - 21/07/2026
Entering 10th grade is a crucial milestone, as each student begins making decisions that will impact their academic journey and future direction. Many students and their families face pressure to choose subjects and subject combinations without truly understanding themselves, knowing the requirements of different fields of study, or worrying that a wrong choice will affect their future admission opportunities.
At Hanoi Adelaide School, guidance doesn’t begin when students stand at the threshold of university, but starts right from the first decisions made in high school. Therefore, the school organized a workshop on choosing subject combinations for 10th-grade students in the 2026-2027 school year, aiming to help students understand their future learning path, provide parents with a better basis for supporting their children, and together make choices that suit their abilities, interests, and career aspirations, rather than choosing based on emotion or popular opinion.

Through the workshop, parents and students had the opportunity to view the selection of subject combinations from a more comprehensive perspective. Not only did it address common concerns such as whether to choose based on ability or interest, career aspirations or admission trends, but the workshop also helped each family understand that there is no single “best” subject combination for everyone. The important thing is to choose a path that suits each student’s abilities, goals, and developmental aspirations, because each choice opens up different opportunities in the future.
At the same time, parents and students also have full access to information about the two learning pathways at H.A.S: the Prime System and the Global System (Vietnamese-Australian Dual Diploma Program). Through this, students understand the differences in program structure, learning methods, subject systems, and assessment methods of each pathway; thus, they can better visualize how their subject choices from grade 10 will impact their academic direction, career choices, and university admission opportunities later on. In particular, the high school program at H.A.S prioritizes preparing students early on in terms of academic thinking, research methods, self-learning ability, and planning skills for their three-year high school journey, creating a solid foundation for development in domestic and international university environments.
An important decision doesn’t need to be made quickly, but rather based on self-understanding and appropriate support from family and school. That’s also what H.A.S aims to provide for each student before they embark on their high school journey. The school believes that when students are listened to, understood, and supported by professionals, they will have the confidence to make choices that align with their abilities, nurture their passions, and gradually build their own path of development.
From individual counseling before choosing subject combinations, to regular communication between parents, homeroom teachers, and the Admissions Board, to support in adjusting the learning path when students change their direction, the school is always there to ensure that every decision is made based on understanding and is the most appropriate. Because we believe that the three years of high school not only help students accumulate knowledge, but also provide a time for each student to gradually discover themselves, shape their future, and confidently pursue their chosen path.
